Chapman prepares for annual homecoming weekend
This weekend, the Chapman Family Homecoming will take place for current students, alumni and their families. On the homecoming schedule, there are several events on the agenda to connect more with the school.
Homecoming attendees can register for all events on the Chapman Ticketing website on the Homecoming page. There, attendees can also see the availability of the events or if an event is sold out. For a majority of the sold-out events, a standby line will be available and guests will be admitted if capacity allows.
Oct. 4 Highlights
The homecoming festivities will kick off on Friday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. with a Jumu'ah Prayer at the Fish Interfaith Center and a sold-out School of Communication Alumni Panel.
At 4 p.m., at the Guggenheim Gallery, there will be a guided tour of the new exhibit “Energy Fields – Art and Science.” The tour is currently sold out, but a standby line will be available for those interested who do not have a ticket. However, this exhibit will be available to view in the gallery until Jan. 19, 2025.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will be hosting “The Black Family Reunion: The Black Student Union Paul Mayfield Endowed Scholarship Dinner.” At this dinner, the founders of the Black Student Union will be celebrated for their 50-year commitment to the school. This event is currently sold out and will not have a standby line.
The final events of the first day of homecoming will be the Chapman University Department of Theatre production of The Rover and the Chapman Orchestra Concert. Both events begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available for free registration.
Oct. 5 Highlights
The second day of homecoming will begin with an educational session explaining the role of an executor/trustee and a Chapman women’s soccer game against University of California, Santa Cruz at 9 a.m. Tickets are currently sold out for the educational session, but they are not needed to attend the game.
At 10 a.m. the first round of master classes will take place including Walt Disney & Charles Darwin, Promoting Civil Discourse in a Politically Polarized World, Gene Therapy in Pediatric Neurology, Changing Skills for the Future of Engineering and Actor Presence. Most of these classes are sold out but those interested in attending can wait in a standby line.
During lunch at 11:45 a.m., there will be an alumni and faculty reunion luncheon. During this time, past students can have the opportunity to reconnect with faculty members who have had an impact on them.
At 2 p.m., another round of master classes and other educational events will take place. These events include Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library: Open House, Self-Care Strategies in a Busy World, A Taste of Music Technology, The Art of Casting with Russell Boast and Everything You Need to Know About AI.
In the Attallah Piazza from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., there will be a tailgate with food and entertainment before concluding with the final event of homecoming, the football game. The game will take place at 7 p.m. on the Ernie Chapman Stadium and will be played against California Lutheran University. Both the tailgate and the game are currently sold out.
