Who has better movie opinions: Dodge College or main campus?
Dodge College of Film and Media Arts’s Marion Knott Studios is only two blocks away from Chapman University’s main campus. So close, and yet so much is different about the two. The thing that may set them apart the most is their movie opinions.
It may be known that film students have some pretty intense — and possibly pretentious — film opinions. “Film bros” overshadow other students' opinions, with their Top Four on Letterboxd reading “The Godfather,” “The Godfather Part II,” “Pulp Fiction” and “The Dark Knight.”
Main campus feels like the opposite. Business majors definitely don’t have AMC A-List or DVDs from the Criterion Channel. What do they know about movies?
The Panther took to the hallways and sidewalks of Dodge and main campus to ask students about their favorite and least favorite movies.
At the end of the interviews, we asked each student to share the biggest misconceptions about them and their movie opinions.
In truth, we asked each student more questions than shown in this video — but if I included the many rants about guilty pleasure films and the admissions of movies that they lie about having watched, we would be here all day.
